TOMORROW ’ S VOTERS
While everyone struggles to reach non-hunters with the right messages about hunting , fishing and trapping , we ’ ve moved into the daily life of thousands of students with Conservation Science , a hands-on , completely flexible , turnkey high-school science class that teaches scientific principles through the lens of conservation , the North American model and the endeavors that fund it – hunting , fishing and trapping , boating and shooting . This daily , hands-on , activity-based curriculum helps set a foundational understanding of wildlife management with tomorrow ’ s voters . Over the past three years , more than 5,700 students in 18 states have taken the course !
INDUSTRY RESEARCH
Building on our groundbreaking 2022 research that helped all 50 state wildlife agencies better understand why and how often sportsmen participate in outdoor activities , in 2023 we expanded our research and created best practices for applying the model to more effectively recruit , retain and reactivate hunters , anglers and recreational shooters nationwide . Additionally , we completed a second research project that provided insights into how newcomers are best served by R3 events . Knowing whether certain groups of people prefer online or in-person events , workshops and other learning activities , agencies can meet those people where they ’ re most comfortable .
PROTECTING VITAL EDUCATION
When the gun-control “ Bipartisan Safer Communities Act ” was signed into law , buried within its mandates was a stipulation that funding for school safety measures not be used for training with “ deadly weapons .” The intent was to separate funding for school resource officers from the act ’ s funding intent , however , the Biden administration took a very liberal , and literal , interpretation of the language and withheld funding for hunter education , scholastic shooting clubs and more . We filed suit in federal court to protect this funding and education before Congress nearly unanimously passed legislation clarifying and correcting the issue .
