WE STAND BY THE SECOND AMENDMENT , FOR WITHOUT FIREARMS AND AMMO , HUNTING IS SERIOUSLY LIMITED AND , MORE IMPORTANTLY , CONSERVATION SUFFERS AS CRITICAL FUNDS ARE REMOVED FROM THE NORTH AMERICAN MODEL . IT IS NO MYSTERY WHY THOSE STATES WITH THE LOWEST FIREARM OWNERSHIP FIGURES ARE ALSO WHERE HUNTER NUMBERS CONTINUE TO FALL . RESTRICTING THE RIGHTS OF THE LAW-ABIDING , IN THE NAME OF CRIME CONTROL , IS SOMETHING WE WILL CONTINUE TO FIGHT .

STANDING BY THE SECOND AMENDMENT

A CHANGING WORLD : After the Supreme Court ruling in New York Rifle and Pistol Association vs . Bruen , which reaffirmed a Constitutional right to carry firearms in public , a largely partisan issue became even more magnified when it comes to the Second Amendment . Blue states have rushed to push every gun-control law imaginable , while red states have ensured those measures never cross their borders . Credit card transactions are a prime example , as merchant codes identifying the purchase of firearms and ammo put law-abiding citizens at risk of profiling and allow the government to circumvent the Fourth Amendment . California passed legislation allowing the nefarious activity as other states are considering it , while states such as Wyoming , Iowa , Utah and Ohio are passing legislation forbidding it . The laundry list of gun-control we fought also includes age minimums , liability insurance for gun owners and the ability to bring civil lawsuits against firearm manufacturers .
AN ISSUE OF LAW : When California Gov . Gavin Newsom signed AB 2571 , the state set a broad and chilling precedent that could destroy the firearms industry as a whole and undermine even time-honored and lawfully required activities such as hunter education . We couldn ’ t let this law , which violated the First , Second , Fifth and Fourteenth amendments , stand . Suing the state to protect our Constitutional freedoms , we appealed a lower court ruling in the state ’ s favor to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals , where we won . The Attorney General and Gov . Newsom appealed their loss , but we won that appeal , too , and now the issue has been remanded back to the lower court with an injunction likely against enforcement of the law until all appeals are concluded .
USING TRADITIONAL AMMUNITION : We ’ ve been safeguarding hunter access to the National Wildlife Refuge System for decades , and now we ’ re fighting the Biden administration ’ s lead ammunition ban on those lands . The policy ties expansion of hunting and fishing opportunities to using more expensive alternative-metal ammo and tackle , and it ’ s a financial attack on America ’ s sportsmen . The precedent and expansion of the policy is an economic hardship for sportsmen and will stop them from using these public lands altogether , something the Sportsmen ’ s Alliance testified to in Congress .
