C ' mon , Mridu . We ' ve worked too hard to let it end like this . Now , call your parents ! ( TONY starts calling his parents then stops and looks up at MS . PEMBERTON .)
Will you be driving us , Pemby ?
Nope . We ' re taking the subway .
( disgusted ) The subway !
It ' s faster .
I hate taking public transportation .

( Sounds of the subway cars roll on the rails at the station . MS . PEMBERTON runs across the stage , exiting at the other end as if entering a subway car . She does not realize TONY and MRIDU are no longer behind her . TONY runs after her , then stops mid-stage to look back at MRIDU , who slowly follows then slumps suddenly to the floor . She clutches her legs to her chest . TONY runs back to her .)
TONY : Mridu , what ' s wrong with you ? We gotta hurry or we ' ll lose Pemby .
( TONY turns to the other end of the stage .)
