The school board has canceled our play . Censorship means to suppress . The school board fears that the musical will spark unwanted debates that might disrupt the peace and order of our school ... so , they ' ve silenced us . They took issue with how we turned it into a political play , claiming that we focus too much on the persecution of the gypsies , which they found suggestive of the way our government deals with immigrants . They think our interpretation of The Hunchback of Notre Dame is entirely too controversial .
