( MRIDU and TONY are dressed in school uniforms . Tony is alone , lounging in the drama rehearsal room . MRIDU enters squealing with excitement , startling TONY .)
MRIDU :
AAAAAHHHHH ... I ' ve been cast as Esmeralda ! Can you believe it , Tony ? I ' m going to play the beautiful heroine in The Hunchback of Notre Dame !
TONY : Calm down , Mridu ! You act as if you ' ve won an Oscar ; it ' s just a school musical .
MRIDU :
You don ' t understand ... all my life I ' ve dreamed of playing the lead female role in a musical ... it ' s like ... my destiny ... have I ever told you what my name means in Sanskrit ?
