A message from Pat Givens
At Children ’ s Hospital Colorado , our people have always been the heart and soul of our mission to improve the health of children . Throughout my time at Children ’ s Colorado , I have been continually inspired by the courageous , compassionate leadership demonstrated by team members in all roles and in all settings across our organization . From the bedside to the boardroom , whether they are advocating for patients or for health policy , our extraordinary team members guide our shared clinical practice , sustain our culture of excellence and drive our efforts to transform the future of child health .
Our team members are a top priority at Children ’ s Colorado . In all we do , we strive to ensure our clinicians are empowered to guide the decisions that impact their work and enabled to work at top of scope , with pathways to continue to grow and develop both personally and professionally . The stories gathered in this report demonstrate just some of the many ways our team members rise to those challenges and embrace opportunities to advance our shared professional practice to refine and enhance the way we deliver care .
In 2023 , our people joined together to evolve a professional governance structure . This structure is foundational to our people-first culture , ensuring the voices of team members are heard and valued and creating a culture where accountability , relationships and decision-making practices are fostered and can flourish . In a time when healthcare organizations across the country are facing increasing financial and staffing challenges , we value people first in our workforce strategies as well , implementing creative solutions to support current team members and amplify recruitment efforts to ensure a robust , resilient and stable workforce into the future .
With our patients at the center of all we do , team members led innovative projects to expand access and support our patients across the continuum of care . Driven by our people ’ s clinical expertise and deep commitment to serving as a powerful influence in support of child heath , these efforts are bringing about better outcomes for children across the lifespan , from prenatal interventions to supporting health far into adulthood . Our team members are also boldly forging ahead into new spaces , conducting research that not only advances patient care but also breaks down barriers in our industry and paves the way for others to follow , continuing to build on these collective efforts to revolutionize child health and healthcare as a profession .
To my colleagues at Children ’ s Colorado : Thank you , always , for your unwavering commitment to our patients , communities and each other . I deeply value our relationship as clinicians , and I am so proud of the things we have accomplished together — those that are gathered here in these pages , and the incredible things , big and small , that continue to happen across our System of Care each day and night . I cannot wait to see what the next years bring as you continue elevating pediatric healthcare and moving forward as a powerful beacon of hope for children and their families .
