Preceptor model review
Children ’ s Colorado worked to establish new preceptor models to better support both preceptors and new hires through the onboarding process , with an additional focus on night shift where a higher level of need had been identified . To accomplish this , Sara Hahn , clinical education specialist , led a unit performance improvement project focused on increasing the number of qualified preceptors and preceptor utilization on our surgical inpatient floor at Anschutz Medical Campus . This included role clarification and enhancement of patient care assignment processes to ensure the preceptors were ready to guide overall performance assessment with a preceptee .
Marketing and communications
Marketing and communications team members worked to update , enhance and expand the careers page on the Children ’ s Colorado website as well as increasing digital recruitment campaigns across social media platforms . They redesigned web content and the nurse recruitment portal with targeted strategies for transition to practice programs and nurse traveler and rehire . Patient care services also partnered with the marketing team to redesign website content with user experience in mind to ensure nurse candidates can easily access the information they need .
Collaboration and innovative tactics garner success
The initial 90-day cycle was completed at the end of June 2023 . The collaboration of a cross-functional team , strong prioritization of tactics , defined and clear decision rights , design thinking methodology , data-driven decision making and the targeted and focused energy of the rapid-cycle style for improvement were all key to the success of these efforts .
