CMS 5-Star Ratings
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ( CMS ) named Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital as receiving the highest star rating in two areas : 5-Star for Overall Quality Hospital Star Rating and 5-Star for HCAHPS Patient Experience Summary . The Overall Hospital Quality 5-Star Rating was given to only 483 US hospitals in 2023 . This is based on performance across five quality categories including mortality , safety of care , readmission , patient experience , and timely and effective care . The patient survey rating measures patients ’ experiences of their hospital care including how well doctors and nurses communicated , how responsive staff were to their needs , as well as cleanliness and quietness of the hospital environment .
The Joint Commission Reaccreditation
Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital received reaccreditation from The Joint Commission following the survey in February 2023 . This accreditation reflects the hospital ’ s ability to provide safe , high-quality care as well as meet performance expectations . The hospital has consecutively received accreditation every survey year since opening in 2002 .
Mission : Lifeline ® / Get With The Guidelines Gold-Plus and Gold Recognition
Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital - Dallas received Gold-Plus recognition as a STEMI Receiving Center and Gold for NSTEMI care by the American Heart Association ’ s quality indicators for patients who have had a severe heart attack .

Vascular Quality Initiative ( VQI ) Participation Awards – Highest Star Rating
Announced in April 2023 , through the participation of the Vascular Quality Initiative ® , Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas received the 2022 VQI Participation Award with a 3-Star rating , the highest star rating from the VQI . This is the seventh consecutive year the hospital has received 3-Star recognition .
Women ’ s Choice Awards
In fiscal year 2023 , the hospital was recognized by the Women ’ s Choice Award ® organization for three total awards . These awards signify that the hospital is in the top 1 % of 4,728 US hospitals offering heart care and for patient safety , safe surgery practices , and lower rates for complications and infections .
