The Bay Yellowjackets finished as district runner-up a season ago after winning their district the year prior to that . They lose three-time all-state golfer Duck Fletcher to graduation . With that said , the Yellowjackets return several players from a year ago with three of the returners having state tournament experience . The first is junior Kaden Hartley . Hartley , has a pretty solid short game and is very comfortable with a wedge in his hand . Will Pillow has two years of experience under his belt . He seems to favor mid irons and when he ’ s on with his putter he ’ s on . Senior Reed Crocker returns and has a natural golf swing even though he ’ s a baseball player . He doesn ’ t have a problem changing his swing . Will Cossey garnered regular season experience last year . He shows promise and has turned the corner this year shooting a 90 already in the team ’ s second match . Bay has one newcomer in multi-sport athlete Justin Brannen . He can drive the ball far but is getting a late start to his playing career . “ We should have a pretty good year ,” said Yellowjacket coach Tommy Cole . “ The players that have been on the team prior to this year are pretty settled in to be this early . I ’ m expecting to make it back to the State Tournament . I would have to say our main strength going into this year is that almost all of my players are returning and playing a variety of courses to make them stronger in their all-around game . I think the biggest weakness we have at this point is confidence . These guys can play a good round of golf if they would just understand when you hit a bad shot you have to leave it behind and move on .”
