Another year and yet another state championship for the Riverside Rebel Tennis team and why would anyone expect any different in 2023 ? Legendary Coach Terry Conner once again is loaded . Coach Conner returns multiple players on the boys and girls side including state doubles champions Harrison McAnally and Seth Couch . Both are seniors and will look to repeat . Thatcher Durham and Cash Gillis finished third overall at state last season and they could end up playing their teammates for a state title . Junior Bryce Smith is new to the team and will compete in singles . Elijah Guntharp , Brayeson Timms , Jaxson Timms , and Jacob Tipton will all compete in singles going into the district tournament . Additional players on the boy ’ s team include : Zain McClure , Maddox Stone , Tucker Emery , Jackson Davis , and Kade Laird . On the girl ’ s side , Malorie Booth and Brooklyn Berry finished runner-up in doubles . They will look to go the distance this season and bring home a state title of their own . Bennett Durham and Kaylee Cox are second on the girl ’ s side in doubles . They have state experience as well and will look to push further this season . Olivia Stormes and Lela Poe are the top players in singles for the girls . Other players for the Lady Rebels include : Legend Cash , Madison Hood , Katie Ridge , Olivia Rolland , Blakely Biggers , Henleigh McAnally , Emerson Holden , Brooklyn Hatch , and Olivia Tilley . “ We are looking forward to the new season ,” told Coach Conner . “ As always , the teams are looking to improve each year . We hope to have a successful run through the conference , perform well at the district tournament , and advance to the state tournament . The goal of the team is to improve on their state appearance last year . Most of the players have been working throughout the summer to sharpen their skills and become better players .”
