The Piggott Lady Mohawks put together a good season last year finishing 17-12 . It was a step in the right direction for the Lady Mohawks and Coach Chris Brantley . Unfortunately , Piggott loses several key pieces to graduation . Senior , Rylea Blascoe is a returning guard who provided strong defense and some outside shooting last year . Rylea has the potential to be a great leader for the Lady Mohawks this year . Junior , Izzy Miller made great progress throughout the season last year and by the end of the season was the team ’ s third highest scorer and second leading rebounder . Freshman , Madden Mack will move up this season and run point guard a lot . Madden is great passer and continued improvement on her outside shot could make her a real threat this year . Freshman , Brooklyn Langley will move up and provide a hard-nosed , gutsy player to hopefully begin to fill the shoes of Emma Langley who graduated last year . Freshman , Libby Brantley is a 5 ' 11 " guard who can hopefully adjust well to varsity play and provide some scoring and rebounding for her team . Sophomore , Jocelyn Rathel is new to the program and shows promise to provide some tough defense and rebounding . Senior , Morgan Rahn didn ' t see a ton of minutes last season but over the summer impressed Coach Brantley with her basketball IQ and leadership . Morgan will need to fill in some gaps and help lead the team this season . Coach Brantley shared his thoughts about the upcoming season . “ My main concern with this season is how far I am able to get them by February . We are very young , replacing an all-state and two all-state ( honorable mention ) seniors with three freshmen . We graduated 85 % of all our stats , but I think this team has the potential to pull some things off by the end of season .”
New head coach Scott Dodd and his Mohawks are looking to compete in the 3A-3 conference . After a season ending at 11-16 and losing four starters the Mohawks are looking to push through . Bringing back Ashton Lemmons ( senior point-guard ) has two years starting experience under his belt which will allow him to be a leader this season . Having Lemmons leading the offense is undoubtedly an exciting prospect for your team . His quickness on the court not only enables him to outmaneuver opponents but also to seize opportunities and create plays . His strong instincts are invaluable , as they allow him to anticipate the flow of the game , make split-second decisions , and adapt to changing circumstances . One of his standout qualities is his ability to deliver precise passes , which is fundamental in setting up scoring opportunities and maintaining possession . This skill ensures that the ball ends up where it needs to be , allowing the team to maintain control and apply offensive pressure . Caleb Nottingham ( senior forward ) will be someone who steps up and guards any position he needs too . Nottingham also has the ability to run the floor to get easy buckets . Caiden Scudder ( senior guard ) is relentless . His love for his teammates and the game will give the Mohawks an advantage every game . Schudder loves to compete and if that means he has to sacrifice his body he will . Keegan Scudder ( senior guard ) will bring grit to the team . William Lucas ( junior forward ) is a strong defender and can guard any position . Lucas will be a force on the boards and can score at multiple levels . Cole James ( junior forward ) plays with energy and emotion that allows his team to play big in certain circumstances . James has the ability to make chaos on both ends of the court . Jose Avila ( junior guard ) is gaining confidence everyday which allows him to shoot at a high rate . In the face of a significant transition year , the Mohawks team ' s keys to success are a testament to a thoughtful and strategic approach . Prioritizing teamwork , relentless effort , and intelligent ball play are fundamental principles that can help guide the team through this period of change . The loss of four starters , with one of them earning all-state honorable mention , underlines the magnitude of the challenge at hand . Most of the players on this year ' s roster have limited experience at the varsity level , which implies a learning curve as they adjust to the heightened competition and responsibilities . Nonetheless , Dodd has much enthusiasm and excitement for the team ' s potential . “ While this year is about laying the groundwork for future success , there is a distinct opportunity for the team to exceed expectations , surprise opponents , and forge its own path . With a dedicated work ethic and a commitment to unity , our team is well-positioned to embrace the trials ahead and make the most of this rebuilding year .”
