The Brookland Lady Bearcats had a strong campaign a year ago finishing with a record of 25-11 . They will look to build on another successful season returning several key figures from last year ’ s group . While the Bearcats lose five seniors in Stella Parker , Jaci Hart , Catie Woodard , Addison Weathers and Savannah McFarland , they still return four players that saw time in the starting lineup last season . Three all-conference senior guards return to start for Coach Mitchell Weber . They include : Kinsey Clark who shot 40 % from three-point land , Kinley Morris who Coach Weber deems as the teams most efficient offensive weapon and Addy Vowell who shot a remarkable 52 % for three during the second half of the season . All three are two-year starters . The other returning starter is junior guard Evan Polsgrove . Last season ’ s super sophomore finished all-conference and made the all-state tournament team scoring 10 points per contest while hauling in seven rebounds . Coach Weber has lots of depth and will send in an additional six players to see lots of time on the hard court . He has a pair of seniors in Chaney Gallion ( forward ) and Neely Coggins ( guard ). Also , four juniors will see significant minutes in a trio of forwards which include Macy Slater , Cassidy King , and Chloe Rodriguez . The other junior is Burkeley Brewer who will play guard . “ Keys to success for us this season will be utilizing our depth ,” shared Coach Weber . “ We like what we have seen , and think we will see from 10 kids at the varsity level .” NEA Sports predicts the Lady Bearcats to win the 4A-3 Conference and be one of the best girl ’ s teams in Northeast Arkansas .
“ Continue the Culture ” is the motto for the Brookland Bearcats this season . Bobby Gross ’ crew is one of the favorites to make it to Hot Springs this season after going 27-7 last season . The Bearcats finished conference and district runner-up and made it to the quarterfinals of the state tournament . Coach Gross will look to a strong core group of seniors that have been through the battles . 6-4 senior guard Tyler Parham will start for the fourth straight season after averaging 12.4 points , 5.1 rebounds , and 3.2 assists last year . Parham is a strong guard that can hit the deep three and score around the rim . He has started since his freshman year and has hit big shots in big moments throughout his career . Fellow senior Cole Kirby ( 6 ’ 1 ) will accompany Parham in the backcourt . Kirby has started the last two seasons averaging 14.2 points , 4.8 rebounds , 2.1 assists , and 1.5 steals last year . Another clutch player with experience , Kirby averaged 21 points in the postseason and earned All-State honors . Briar Allred is the third returning senior starter . The 6 ’ 5 forward averaged 6.7 points and 7.4 rebounds last season . Allred can score around the rim and has the ability to step out and hit the outside shot . Several players will be looking to expand their roles from last year to add to the Bearcat attack . Senior forward Ben Jackson ( 6 ’ 4 ) was the sixth man a year ago and adds size and strength inside . Senior guard Tashun Wells ( 5 ’ 9 ) saw minutes last year at point guard , and Coach Gross expects him to have a vital role this season along with fellow senior guard Carsen Holladay ( 5 ’ 11 ). Holladay will provide depth and strength on the defensive end from the guard spot . Senior guard Ben Ford ( 5 ’ 10 ) and junior guard Toby Burns ( 6 ’) will provide some depth off the bench , while sophomores Lane Webster ( 6 ’ 6 ) and Brody Robertson ( 6 ’ 5 ) should make an immediate impact moving up to the senior high level . Plenty of experience and talented youth should make Brookland the favorites in the tough 4A-3 this season . Coach Gross ’ goals are always to be peaking at tournament time , and NEA Sports predicts the Bearcats will battle at the top of the conference and be one of the top three or four teams with a chance to cut down the nets in March .
