GREENE SCHOLARS PROGRAM
Program Overview
The Dr . Frank S . Greene Scholars Program ( GSP ) is a 3rd through 12th grade science , technology , engineering and math ( STEM ) initiative that instills academic excellence and 21st century leadership skills in youth of African ancestry . The Greene Scholars Program prepares students to compete in the global economy , enter a knowledge-based technical workforce , and provide role models for future generations to come . After 15 years as the signature program of the California Alliance of African American Educators ( CAAAE ), GSP became an independent 501 ( c ) 3 called Greene Scholars in 2016 .
GSP works to erase the Opportunity Gap
Since 2001 , the Dr . Frank S . Greene Scholars Program has increased the academic success , graduation rate , and career path of its students . One hundred percent of the Scholars who have successfully completed the Greene Scholars Program have gone on to college . ALL of our Scholars have passed the California High School Exit Exam ( CAHSEE ), met the University of California ’ s A-G requirements for college admission , and graduated from high school . Our 147 alumni have pursued B . S ./ B . A . degrees at colleges and universities throughout the United States , and 60 % have pursued STEM-related degrees . With 49 % female scholars , we are also working to erase the gender gap in STEM .
