Case Study : Providence Baptist Church
CHALLENGE Develop a campus masterplan and phased approach to bringing an old adaptively reused former convention center hotel building into the 21st century . The plan moving forward should reflect the needs of a demographically diverse church community . The first phase should be an improvement in their current worship center . Additional developments need to reflect the growing education needs , children , youth , and college-age members , and site restrictions .
DESIGN OBJECTIVES Provide a space designed specifically for worship . The space to include an enlargement of the current capacity , higher volume space , a greatly improved and advanced AVL system , a larger platform , and elevated seating that would allow for better visibility over the old flat floor seating scenario . The new construction is flanked by support spaces and updates to the surrounding interior spaces and also provided a more impactful presence in the community with a contemporary update for the entire facility .
