At the William N . Pennington Cancer Institute , our care extends beyond the scope of medical services to include support for our patients and their families in all areas of life . Along with treatments , we assist patients in navigating the financial , physical and emotional aspects of their cancer journey .
Additional support services include access to dietitians , nurse navigators and social workers , each of whom specialize in working with cancer patients .
Nurse Navigators
Cancer Nurse Navigators are dedicated professionals who guide and support patients through their cancer journey . Whether it ' s helping to connect patients with community resources or offering emotional support , our navigators are committed to ensuring that patients feel informed , educated and empowered throughout their cancer treatment .
Nurse Navigators provide personalized care every step of the way :
• Communicate with primary care physicians and care providers
• Understand the cancer diagnosis and medical terms
• Manage financial issues related to care
• Learn about clinical trial information
• Find community resources , support groups and complementary therapies
• No fee or referral is needed
Financial Resource Advocates
Our Financial Resource Advocates specialize in cancer care , helping patients and their families better understand insurance coverage and their financial responsibilities . They also provide information to patients on the costs of treatment and any assistance programs available .
Pharmacy Patient Advocate
Our Pharmacy Patient Advocate can assist in finding resources to help lower out-of-pocket costs of medications and prescription drugs related to a patient ' s cancer diagnosis .
Social Work
Social Workers help patients navigate the healthcare system and find support to manage the day-to-day challenges of a cancer diagnosis . We are grateful to have certified oncology Social Workers who have a passion for making a difference by connecting patients to both Renown and community resources . Social Workers can help patients navigate social needs that arise during their care .
