HB 1058 cdl reform

The bill removes barriers for new and returning truck drivers to obtain their Commercial Driver ’ s License ( CDL ), helping address truck driver shortages . This bill reduces the fee on CDL skills exams but lowers the number of attempts for each fee from two to one . It also removes the requirement that applicants apply in-person to renew a CDL and allows the Department of Licensing to waive requirements for additional testing and training for applicants who previously voluntarily surrendered their CDL . Both chambers voted unanimously for the legislation .
HB 1540 driver curriculum for commercial vehicles

This bill adds a requirement that driver ’ s training programs include instruction on sharing the road with large vehicles , such as large heavy duty commercial trucks and busses . Both chambers voted unanimously for the bill .
