A heartbeat is one of the most magnificent sounds because it represents the cadence of life . Each person ’ s rhythm is unique . It requires a complex orchestration of electrical contraction — force and flow — to maintain a simple , vital harmony . Renown ’ s heartbeat is undoubtedly the people who come to work here every day . They , like our beating hearts , make all things possible .
We take immense pride in being the state ’ s most trusted and preferred health system and to have been recognized as the # 1 Hospital in Nevada by U . S . News & World Report for the last three years . * These accolades are a testament to our over 7,000 employees — who are ALL caregivers , and who ensure that every person who enters Renown , online or in person , receives the highest level of care available .
As we witness the rapid growth of northern Nevada , we stand poised to meet the expanding needs of our community . We are building spaces for healing , bringing new medical services to our community , adding private patient rooms and enhancing facilities across our campuses . Most importantly , we are working to attract , hire and retain exceptionally talented physicians , nurses and caregivers across Renown Health . Since February 2023 , we have welcomed over 400 new employees for in-demand clinical positions on our ever-growing team .
In 2021 , Renown began our historic affiliation with the University of Nevada , Reno School of Medicine ( UNR Med ), a partnership that continues to deepen and exemplifies a mutual commitment to teach the next generation of physicians . This year we welcomed members of the first class of the UNR Med Pediatric Residency Program . Hand in hand with UNR Med , we are advancing health and healthcare through world-class medical education , clinical research and patient care for a healthier Nevada .
Our association with the University of Nevada also extends to the Orvis School of Nursing where , with donors , we are now able to attract and retain talented nurses through the Gerald “ Jerry ” Smith Academic-Practice Partnership . This scholarship offers financial support for tuition , books and nursing fees , with a guaranteed nursing career at Renown Health upon graduation and licensure .
Today at Renown , we are creating a new healing rhythm . We are working to put the heart back in healthcare and working to champion the health and well-being of those who call Nevada home .
As you read the stories in the next several pages , I hope you are both moved and exhilarated as we highlight our caregivers , our patients , our health plan members and our northern Nevada community .
