The title of the anthology is inspired by a common thread which is laced throughout these writings : each contributor ’ s interpretation of the body is one that is starving . There is a recognition of urgency , even desperation which is vocalised through the narratives , specifically , the body ‘ in need ’; whether that be relief for the pained body or space for the othered body .
The message which I hope this anthology communicates is that the body is a catalogue . Bodies are vessels and so , it collects and stores the scars , the desires and the aching needs which our lives force upon us . The body remembers , always . Your soul is housed inside a mass of flesh and despite you being unwilling , the soul floods into nooks of bone and pools beneath slivers of skin .
Starving or not , these bones are yours .
Forever .
