of Modern Women Poets states , ‘ when an anthology is intended to correct a long neglect the question of choice and presentation rests on the editors even more heavily than usual ’. Despite this anthology being more thematically focused , it too attempts to reshape attention to women ’ s poetry by correcting a ‘ long neglect ’. For this anthology , presenting long-established poets alongside relatively new ones means we can understand the witch ’ s journey in modern women ’ s hands . Since the witch is not exclusive to any particular culture , we did not limit our poets through nationhood . However , collating this anthology from England , our impressions of the witch were unavoidably influenced by Western depictions of her . With this project of reclaiming the witch and recovering real women ’ s voices in mind , the work to appreciate who the witch is today can truly begin .
