Innerspace By Jessica Bex
Watch the way the bone works at the meat of you , grind of flesh against wheel of skull ,
white cap unspun from a spool of red yarn , knotted by your fingers , untied by mine , we are careless in that
we are alone , it is only us here , in this room of you , as I hollow you out with a melon spoon ,
scooping the marrow from the man , whittling a femur down a few inches so it fits
in my pocket , and that piece of you would love me as I have always wanted you to love me .
Look , my cheek steams from your bloodhail , heat lingers in the flesh , I regret my methods
of recognition : how I borrowed light from the heavens to see you at my side ; how I flayed a star
and held her skin in the shape of a crucifix to peel your body back and look inside ;
how I recognised your face and hers shifting together in the red limb of your disloyalty .
