REFERRING THROUGH UAB ’ S MIST SERVICE
UAB Medical Information Services via Telephone ( MIST ) is a toll-free , 24-hour service that gives physicians and health care professionals immediate access to UAB Medicine faculty , staff , and services regarding transfers , critical care transport , inpatient referrals , outpatient appointments , consults , and patient follow-up . UAB AMBASSADOR & PHYSICIAN SERVICES
UAB Ambassador is a secure , online portal that allows referring physicians access to their patients ’ UAB Medicine records , including inpatient and outpatient documents and lab results . UAB Ambassador improves communication between UAB Medicine and referring physicians by removing barriers to timely access of patient records . To register for Ambassador or for additional information , please contact UAB Physician Services at 205-934-6890 or email physicianservices @ uabmc . edu . Physician Services is available to assist physicians by facilitating the referral process , communicating timely and pertinent information regarding a patent ’ s visit to UAB , and providing up-todate information regarding the programs and services available within UAB Medicine .

The center of UAB ’ s clinical enterprise , UAB Hospital is located in Birmingham ’ s medical district . Amid UAB ’ s major research centers and clinics , the 1,207-licensedbed hospital is among the 10 largest and best equipped in the nation . We provide patients with a complete range of primary and specialty care services and the most up-to-date treatments and innovations in health care . Here , patients receive tomorrow ’ s medicine today , for both routine and complex diagnoses . As a major center for clinical research , UAB Hospital may offer patients treatments that are not available at other medical centers .
Located within UAB Hospital are the Cardiovascular Operating Room ( CVOR ), Heart and Vascular Center , and Intensive Care and Acute Care nursing units , all of which are dedicated to the medical and surgical treatment of patients with cardiovascular disease . The CVOR includes eight operating suites equipped with the latest technology available , including robotics , to support cardiothoracic surgery . Additionally , there is a hybrid operating room that allows for minimally invasive valve replacement and endovascular therapies . The UAB Heart and Vascular Center includes four electrophysiology labs and eight catheterization labs , offering advanced imaging technologies to support all types of interventional cardiology and electrophysiology procedures .
