There are two volunteer organizations close to our hearts . Faces of Honor is a volunteer organization that provides free facial plastic surgical services to wounded veterans . Face to Face is another , that provides free facial plastic surgical services to victims of domestic violence .

There is very little room for error when it comes to reconstructive or cosmetic results in the face and neck . Sub-specialization within the field of plastic surgery gives us the opportunity to provide our patients and clients with the most up to date and comprehensive treatment options .
Early in medical school I became intrigued by the intricate anatomy of the head and neck region and decided to pursue training in surgery . During my residency I was especially drawn to the artistry and rewarding nature of facial plastic surgery , and obtained additional training and certification in the field .
I recall one of the first rhinoplasty operations I performed was on a young female with a very significant nasal deformity resulting from an non-repaired childhood injury . This injury had shaped — or more accurately misshaped — her self esteem and was extremely apparent during our initial consultation . Her surgery was such a success that just several weeks afterward her emotional transformation was incredible . From her posture to demeanor , her presence was that of a confident young woman . Both of us had tears of joy and it was so incredible to be a part of her life story .
My lifelong mentor and muse is my late grandfather who was a renowned cardiovascular surgeon . He was a selfmade individual who grew up on the streets of New York City and worked his way through Harvard Medical School and became chair at Columbia . He was a passionate learner and a talented surgeon and artist . I chose my career to follow in his footsteps , and feel his guidance almost on a daily basis .
When COVID-19 first hit we closed our elective based practice but continued to perform cancer and reconstructive surgery . Once we were able to initiate new practice measures , we re-opened elective services . Surprisingly , the last year and a half during COVID-19 has been our busiest ever . We attribute this to factors allowing patients to more easily socially recover , such as mask wearing and working from home , and increased financial resources from things like cancelled travel .
