Bestowed annually on “ an individual in the motion picture arts and sciences whose humanitarian efforts have brought credit to the industry ,” the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award honors Michael ’ s iconic and galvanizing contributions to Parkinson ’ s research and the field of neurology more broadly — credit clearly shared with the worldwide Parkinson ’ s community .
As the Foundation closes in on $ 2 billion in research funded , always with the single-minded goal of accelerating development of better treatments and a cure for Parkinson ’ s disease , we are humbled and inspired by the acts of courage , optimism and determination we witness every day by the patients , families and researchers we serve . Every one of these actions creates ripple effects of its own , shaping and evolving individual , family and collective outcomes in countless lives touched by PD . Together , we will eradicate Parkinson ’ s disease once and for all .
