Since 2004 , “ The World ’ s Most Famous Building ” has paid tribute to “ America ’ s Dog Show ” with a stunning display of color splashed across New York City ’ s skyline . This year the Empire State Building will celebrate the 146th Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on Wednesday , June 22 , 2022 . New Yorkers will enjoy the club ’ s colors of purple and gold as they fill the night sky while the Group judging and awarding of the Best in Show winner culminate on Wednesday night . The lights are visible for miles , reaching more than a quarter-mile skyward above Midtown Manhattan . The impressive exterior LED lighting system of this international landmark honors national holidays and special events of interest to New Yorkers and citizens of the world .
