PRESIDENT ’ S MESSAGE
It has been a privilege to serve as President of the Lexington Golf and Country Club . My thanks to the Board and all of our members for your support over the past year .
With the help of Natalie Garvis and the Finance Committee , we have made great strides toward financial stability . For example , we have secured our golf course maintenance budget for 2023 .
At our retreat last fall , the Board committed to adding additional value for our membership . To that end , we created the terrific Major Events Program , headed up by Neal Lineberry , and raised greens fees for non-members – a successful effort that has resulted in less nonmember play but with more non-member greens fee gross revenue .
The Board has continued to challenge our management firm to provide the caliber of off-site , back office support – accounting , marketing , IT and advice on best practices – for which we pay a substantial amount . The relationship with Troon is up for renewal next Spring and will be an important topic for the next Board .
Our relationship with Washington and Lee remains very solid and is now to the point where we have weekly calls to continue designing a model that will work for both our members and the University ’ s golf teams .
I hope to see you at our Annual Meeting at 6 PM on September 13 . There will be appetizers and cocktails starting at 5 PM . We will recap the year and answer any questions you might have about the Club . Most importantly , we will thank Natalie Garvis , Lauren Jensen and Steve Grist for their years of service to the Club as members of the Board and welcome Tammy Shomo , Bobby Hobbs and Sean Harrington to the Board .
Thank you !
Jack Bovay
President
