PRA re-elected to the FAPRA Council

The Philippine Retailers Association ( PRA ) was recently re-elected to the Advisory Council of the Federation of Asia-Pacific Retailers Associations ( FAPRA ) --- the largest regional aggrupation of national retail associations in Asia Pacific , which include 18 economies in Asia Pacific . Together with PRA in the council are Singapore , Japan , and Korea Retail Associations .
The FAPRA Council serves as the regional organization ’ s lead body for the discussion and decision on FAPRA related matters as well as regional industry concerns .
The new FAPRA Council for the term 2022-2024 is composed of :
FAPRA Chairman : APRINDO ( Indonesia ) FAPRA Vice Chairman : SLRA ( Sri Lanka ) and CGCC ( China ) Hon Secretary : MRA ( Malaysia ) tHon Treasurer : CGCC ( China )

The FAPRA was founded in 1989 . It is composed of 18 member-economies in Asia Pacific including the Philippines , Malaysia , Singapore , Indonesia , Thailand , Vietnam , Myanmar , Hong Kong , China , Japan , South Korea , Mongolia , Fiji , India , New Zealand , Kyrgyzstan , Taiwan , and Sri Lanka .
For more than three decades , the FAPRA has continuously implemented activities that allows discussion of issues relevant in the region , and promote information exchange that contributes to the development of commerce , the advancement of retailers ’ status and the overall improvement of citizens ’ lives in the region .
The election was held last November 30 , 2022 during the Heads of Delegations Meeting during the 20th Asia Pacific Retailers Conference & Expo ( APRCE ) held in Jakarta , Indonesia and hosted by the Indonesian Retailers Association . The PRA was represented by PRA President Rosemarie Ong , PRA vice Chairman for International Affairs Roberto Claudio , PRA Chairman Paul Santos , PRA Secretary General Evelyn B . Salire , and PRA Asst . Secretary General BM Miranda
The APRCE is the flagship project of the FAPRA , and is the largest and most influential retail event in the Asia Pacific region since it was first organized in 1983 in Tokyo , Japan . It is held every two years and one of the world ’ s major retail events as well .
Through the APRCE , the FAPRA aims to discover new approaches to the latest issues facing the region ’ s retailers and highlight innovative solutions that can help retailers differentiate themselves from competitors , to deliver greater value to consumers in Asia and Pacific region .
