Outstanding Team Improvement Award
WINNER
RAPID 6 TEAM Left to right : Elise Rolison , Fidelity Dominguez , Meghan Burke , Miriam Conant , Richele Koehler
In a 2021 survey , 57 % of Level 6 nurses believed they would encounter negative feedback if they activated a rapid response team ( RRT ) – and Level 6 code data from the previous two years revealed a significant increase in Children ’ s Colorado Pillar Goal Deterioration Events , SSEs and deaths . The Level 6 leadership team immediately identified the need to escalate these clinical care and unit culture concerns to surgical and medical leadership . Recognition , Activation , and Prevention of Inhospital Deterioration ( RAPID ) 6 Program has increased general awareness of the need to create a more robust escalation of care model and created the framework for the formal transition of RAPID 6 into RAPID , which addresses house-wide escalation of care concerns and advances the expanded development and implantation of the Watcher model . In addition to this incredible achievement , RAPID 6 has also informed various quality contributions , including the completion of more than 260 Level 6 RRT reviews and the formal implementation of the Surgical Hospitalist Assisted Recovery service , which includes the addition of a safety officer to support the RRT process , provide immediate feedback and support nursing in the escalation of patient safety concerns . The RAPID 6 team has truly exemplified the meaning of teamwork across disciplines .
