The surgeons on the medical staff are able to evaluate the full spectrum of aortic aneurysms to determine if EVAR , TEVAR or FEVAR or an open surgical repair is most appropriate for an individual patient .
The first FEVAR was performed by a vascular surgeon on the medical staff of Baylor Scott & White – Fort Worth , Mohammad Alqaim , MD . He complements the team involved in the first FEVAR and acknowledges that the incidence of aortic aneurysms have increased in the last two decades . Dr . Alqaim stated , “ Our close relationship with our cardiac surgery colleagues puts us in a unique position of being able to treat any aortic problem there is .”
