Celebrating 20 years of service in North Texas , Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital expands cardiology care to Waxahachie
Celebrating two decades of service of providing quality , innovative cardiovascular care to thousands of North Texans , Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas announced in early fiscal year 2022 plans to expand services on the campus of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Waxahachie . In collaboration with Baylor Scott & White – Waxahachie , a heart catheterization lab was opened in November 2021 .
The lab is supported by advanced technology , including digital subtraction , intravascular ultrasound , intracardiac echocardiography and coronary flow wire-equipment that enhances data accuracy and accessibility . During the eight months of fiscal year 2022 from the cath lab ’ s opening , interventional cardiologists performed coronary angiograms , cardiac and peripheral interventional cases .
The services currently provided are under the umbrella name of Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Services – Waxahachie . The heart catheterization lab is situated within the surgical services area of Baylor Scott & White – Waxahachie . Medical director for the cath lab is Ravi Vallabhan , MD , FACC , FSCAI .
In June 2022 , interventional cardiologist on the medical staff , Robert Stoler , MD , FACC , FSCAI , completed a landmark “ first ” in the state of Texas and second commercial use in the US , by implanting the newest to the commercial market drug-eluting stent that ’ s engineered to be differently designed and optimized for complex percutaneous coronary intervention . FDA approval for this stent was granted the day prior . This is an example of the leading edge technology that arrived in Waxahachie for the treatment of cardiovascular care .

Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas provides management oversight for noninvasive cardiovascular services at Baylor Scott & White - Waxahachie . As the volumes for cardiac cases grew , the services were enhanced to offer a complement of heart disease diagnostic capabilities including exercise stress tests , holter monitoring , pharmacological / exercise stress tests , echocardiograms , transthoracic echocardiograms , and transesophageal echocardiograms .
The cath lab team completed more than 325 cath lab cases in eight months , surpassing projections . The community physicians , as well as community leaders expressed great support for the expansion of heart and vascular care to better serve the residents for Ellis and Navarro counties .
Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Services – Waxahachie is operated as a department of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Waxahachie that is managed and supported by Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas , a hospital in which physicians have an ownership or investment interest .
