The Walter I . Berman Cardiovascular Prevention and Cardiac Rehabilitation Center , a part of Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas , continued to serve patients referred for cardiac rehab during what was a very challenging year . Patient visits remained steady , and the program saw an increase in patients experiencing cardiac and pulmonary effects of COVID-19 . Programs like the Return to Work Lab : Live Your Action Potential ® , Keep Your Move in the Tube © , supervised exercise therapy , and Leap for Life ® , anchored a robust rehab program that benefitted hundreds of patients recovering from cardiac and pulmonary episodes .
Throughout fiscal year 2022 , the team continued its focus on innovation , continually striving to improve patient outcomes in cardiac rehabilitation through research and collaboration .

MOVEMENT ANALYSIS OF CARDIAC REHABILITATION PARTICIPANTS
Patients who participate in cardiac rehabilitation programs wish to understand how the program has helped them recover and return to normal activities of daily living . Conventional cardiac rehabilitation programs subjectively monitor patient progress , encouraging participants to “ keep up the good work ” during their program with little objective data measured on actual progress . However , the leadership team for cardiac rehabilitation have gone further than conventional rehab programs , introducing the Movement Analysis ( MA ) of Cardiac Rehabilitation Participants study in 2019 to measure pre- and postoutcomes of cardiac rehabilitation participants . The MA measures several pillars of physical fitness such as muscle strength , cardiorespiratory fitness , balance , flexibility , and mobility . The scope and depth of the MA differentiates the Walter I . Berman Center ’ s program from others in the area .
