FROM THE HANDICAP COMMITTEE
Hello members . As a reminder , the Eaglebrooke Handicap Committee Members are :
Kirsten Haake , Sisi Hedges , Florence Young ( Flo ), J P Machek , Tim Milcich , Ben Nolan , John Siddle , & Rick Weber – Club Pro - None voting member
The role of the Handicap Committee is to ensure the integrity and accuracy of all the handicaps of the golfers at The Club at Eaglebrooke . We will have our first meeting in the near future .
It is also the responsibility of the Handicap Committee to ensure that all golfers who play in competitive events comply with the requirements of the USGA Handicap System . Two basic premises underlie the USGA Handicap System , namely ( 1 ) that each player will try to make the best score at every hole in every round and ( 2 ) that every player will post every acceptable round for peer review . By accomplishing these objectives , our competitive events will be fairer and more enjoyable for all who play .
Another reminder : Please keep in mind that you are responsible for posting all your scores , even if you turn your card into the pro shop , please check on the GHIN website or smartphone app to make sure they have all been posted . If you do not have access to these apps please contact the pro shop , any committee member , or me . 9 hole or 18-hole scores are to be posted . 9-hole scores will be automatically combined by the GHIN system with any future 9-hole scores to complete an 18-hole score for Handicap purposes .
Criteria from the USGA :
1.4b / 3 – Player Who Belongs to Multiple Golf Clubs Within Different Jurisdictions Resulting in More Than One Handicap Index
Where a player is a member of a golf club located in a different jurisdiction from the location of their home club , the player may be required to hold a separate Handicap Index issued by the Authorized Association responsible for handicapping within the different jurisdiction . While such a requirement is discouraged , in order to ensure the same Handicap Index is issued by both Authorized Associations , it is the player ’ s responsibility to return all acceptable scores to both their home club and the golf club that is located in the different jurisdiction .
Should there ever be a discrepancy between a player ’ s Handicap Index as issued by different Authorized Associations , the Handicap Index within the jurisdiction where the round is being played should be used . When playing outside of either jurisdiction , the lowest Handicap Index should be used .
More to come next month . If anyone has any questions , please feel free to contact me , other committee members , or check out the USGA Handicapping website : https :// www . usga . org / content / usga / home-page / handicapping . html
