Scott ’ s Spot

It is hard to believe that we are already moving into the month of October . We had an action packed September and thank you to everyone who participated in all of our Club Golf Events . We are looking forward to a great October with even better weather and much more golf .
Our Lexington Ladies held their Member / Member tournament with a unique two day format using a Ringer Board format . The team of Laura Lanier and Laura Shanercame out on top . This format establishes a day one score , and the team can improve their overall score on day 2 .
The Ladies also hosted an invitational inviting players from other clubs from Harrisonburg , Lynchburg , Roanoke , Waynesboro , Daleville , etc . 38 ladies competed in a Texas Scramble format , ( everyone tees off and then each player plays their own ball in from that spot ). Congrats to Tammy Shomo , her team finished in first . Second place went to the team which had Linda Maini and the third-place team with Carol Blair .
The next Lexington tournament for the ladies is the Fall Fling scheduled for October 15 .
We kept the action going on September with the Men ’ s Club Championship , a big congrats to David Brogan winning the scratch division shooting a very respectable 69 – 74 and coming in a second place was Gary Tyree . Thanks to everyone who participated in the event .
The Senior Association group had one interclub match in September . Twelve members travelled to Spotswood and lost several close matches to lose by 5 holes . The seniors play again on Oct 6 at home in a rematch with Spotswood .
Let ’ s not forget about our Junior Golfers in the area . The Rockbridge HS golf team advanced through the Regionals and will play in the States at Stonehenge on Oct 10th . Sophomore , Andrew McCoy made 1st team all-District and 2nd team all-Region . Senior , Sofia Vargas made First team all-region team . Rounding out the team are Jack Jensen , Abby Brooks , Nicholas Vargas , Harrison Tanner and Wil Gibbs . The team of Drew and Harrison Tanner competed in the parent-child tournament played at Roanoke CC in the First Tee event .
Weekly Junior Golf Clinics by PGA Professional , Scott Frasier are held every Wednesday for children ages 6-14 . Call the Pro Shop for details .
The Fall Member-Member has been switched to a one-day event and will now be held on Saturday , October 15 . The 2 person teams can be composed of any manner of participants .
The golf course recovered well from the fall aerification and from the 2 inches of rainfall from Hurricane Ian . Soft conditions result in unexpected Cart Path only restrictions that we can ’ t avoid . The Putting / chipping green near the parking lot has recently received a great deal of attention and is in really good shape . We want to remind everyone to REPAIR ANY AND ALL BALLMARKS created by your chipping . I prefer you use this green for bump and runs and not 30- yard pitch shots .
Thanks ,

Scott Frasier
