GOLF & GREENS COMMITTEE
September was a busy month for all our staff with many large private outings and fundraisers taking place . The grounds crew has done a great job of catching up on the mowing and other maintenance issues , and the course is in tip-top condition . Fall weather is here and the golfing is great .
Upcoming events include the Seniors match with Spotswood here on Oct . 6th , the YMCA Tournament on Oct . 7th ( postponed due to weather on 9 / 30 ), the Project Horizon Tournament on Oct . 14th , and VMI alumni groups on Oct . 21st . Also please note that the course will be closed on October 10 and 11 for SVU ’ s 12 team invitational tournament . A one day member-member tournament is planned for October 15th . Please check the sign-up board in the Pro Shop for other golfing opportunities .
The Finance committee and club management are looking at some potential changes to the amenities package currently enjoyed by the equity members , so keep an eye out for possible announcements affecting the range plan . Non-equity members may also see some changes .
Please keep in mind that non-member guests that are local to the Lexington area are limited to four annual plays as a guest , at the guest rate . This information is tracked by the Pro Shop , so be sure to alert your local guests that the full rack rate may be charged after their four plays are completed .
With the high level of practice by members , the local colleges , and high schools , the club is having difficulty keeping an adequate supply of range balls readily available . If you get a bucket and don ’ t use all the balls , please return the unused portion back to the Pro Shop . Your help with this will be much appreciated .
Special thanks go out to Lynn McCoy for his long and faithful service to the club . Lynn has decided to retire from the Golf Committee , and his input and knowledge will be greatly missed . Thanks Lynn .
See you on the course .
