GOLF & GREENS COMMITTEE
The Golf Committee would like to express appreciation for all the work put in this year by the proshop team , to make our golf events successful and fun . In our monthly meeting we discussed the following topics :
1 ) 2023 Calendar of Events . Sean Harrington has prepared a tentative listing of events for 2023 , which includes some great new original ideas for new golf outings for the members . He also included most of the existing repeat events that the club hosts . The golf team will meet to flesh out the schedule in more detail and will try to publish it prior to the end of this calendar year . Keep an eye out for this important information and make your plans accordingly .
2 ) Event Advertising . We briefly discussed the need to get more members involved in the club sponsored events . It was agreed that a critical component to accomplish this goal is to get the information out to the membership / public early and often . Specific details should be sent out no later than 2 months ahead of the planned event date , with multiple follow-ups ( weekly ?) leading up to the event . Sign ups need to be done in time to give the proshop time to prepare carts and score cards , etc . Your help is critical to get this done . Please sign up as early as possible for any events you wish to play .
3 ) Winter Rates . A non-member winter rate of $ 45 weekdays , $ 55 weekends , and $ 30 for 9 holes will be offered beginning Nov . 1st . These rates would stay in effect until Mar . 31st . The 4X limit on ‘ guest ’ rates for non-members is being tracked by the proshop , and would carryover for the off-season rates noted above .
4 ) Membership Benefits . During the above discussions it was kept in mind that we need to emphasize and optimize membership benefits . To that end , we requested that the outside events , such as the YMCA ’ s tournament , etc ., be scheduled with starting times that will allow member play for at least a part of the day of the event . Many members feel that we have too many days that are blocked out for any member play . The golf team has agreed to try and find a way to implement this request . It may not work for every event , but hopefully will be possible for some events .
Here ’ s hoping you have some great fall golfing at LGCC .
See you on the course .
