By participating in the March for Life , you are part of a historic movement which began 49 years ago by a young woman named Nellie Gray . On January 22 , 1973 , the United States Supreme Court issued its decisions in Roe v . Wade and Doe v . Bolton , which legalized abortion on demand in the United States . Nellie and other pro-life Americans gathered at the U . S . Capitol a year later to demand that Congress reverse those decisions and protect unborn lives . Forty-eight years later , we are still marching .
The March for Life is a vitally important moment of unity and action for the pro-life movement .
What ’ s more , you will be inspired to “ march on ” for life and to make a difference in your communities each and every day of the year .
