Focus on Filipino respondents
 Unlike other language groups surveyed , the majority of Filipino respondents reported that they are proficient in English and get most of their news and information in English . Of the 93 respondents who speak Filipino at home , the majority ( 78 ) said they speak English well or very well , and 79 said they read , write , and understand English well or very well .
 The majority of all Filipino respondents ( 72 %) said they receive their news and information mostly or only in English . Another 19 % of respondents receive their news and information about half in English and half in another language . Only 6 % of Filipino respondents said they get their news and information mostly or only in another language . This may reflect the high levels of English proficiency among Filipino respondents . Although the sample size of LEP Filipino respondents is not sufficient to draw a conclusion , it is notable that even among the 15 LEP Filipino respondents , 40 % get

Only 20 % said they receive news and information only or mostly in another language , the lowest percentage of any LEP language group analyzed . This may also reflect Filipino news media , which tend to be broadcast and printed in English .
