Looking Forward

What an accomplishment to have celebrated our 25th anniversary ! At 25 , we are no longer a “ teenager ” and are just now hitting our stride . We continue to confidently move forward to achieve our goals and fulfill our mission as set forth in our 2030 Strategic Plan . The work and our future get more and more exciting !
Below is a peek at what the staff is diligently working on in 2023 :
• We continue to work with other area agencies and universities , as well as state and local governments , in land conservation . This includes studies of the ecological health of our island and the environment , and land restoration projects .
• New educational projects are in development to be presented to the public on Kiawah as well as at local elementary schools and libraries .
• Restoration and enhancement initiatives are at the forefront of much of our work . In addition to promoting native plants , our Rain Garden and Pocket Garden demonstration projects will continue to expand on the island .
• As always , we will continue to protect Kiawah Island and its watershed by preserving more land and natural habitats for wildlife , and by studying the salt marsh and groundwater levels .
The Conservancy continues to partner with local agencies and residents to bring more and more land under conservation . We are currently working on several exciting projects and will have more information as the year and our efforts progress .
The Conservancy encourages everyone to join our RSVP Initiative . Do your part to R – Respect Kiawah ’ s Wildlife S – Support Ecological Health V – Volunteer in Environmental Efforts P – Protect and Restore Native Habitat
Finally , I would like to thank each of you , our donors , for supporting the Kiawah Conservancy through our first 25 years and hope you will continue to do so in the next 25 . Without you , none of this would be possible .
Thank You !
