GOLF & GREENS COMMITTEE
It gives me great pleasure to report that the PGA Jr . League will be held this fall here at the club . Herb Rubenstein , a member of our club and also a PGA professional , brought the project to the Golf Committee for the club ’ s consideration . The program is sponsored by the PGA and is intended to provide access to the golf experience for children of lower income families that do not otherwise have this opportunity . It will be organized by Herb , with the cooperation of the local YMCA , as an after-school activity this fall . The league will last for six weeks , with the YMCA providing transportation and meals for the children . LGCC will provide access to our golf facilities , and the training / instructors . For more information or to volunteer , please contact Herb or Scott Frasier .
The Hole-In-One insurance program is again in place at the club . To sign up , please see the staff in the pro shop . It could happen to you !
After a brief exposure to the Handicomp handicap system , the club has returned to the Ghin system used by the USGA and World Golf Association . Our handicap records have been converted back to this system , which is administered by the Virginia State Golf Association . All golfers that maintain a handicap should now have received an email from VSGA with their Ghin number , to be used for posting scores . Only scores that follow all the USGA rules should be posted .
Special thanks go out to our new club manager , Tim Burkhart , and the staff for their above and beyond efforts to make the club Member-Guest Tournament a great success . Even with the loss of power at the clubhouse from Friday afternoon until almost midday on Saturday , they pulled together and managed to make the weekend one to remember for all who participated . Kudos to Jake Valentino and his crew for having the course set up and in perfect condition , despite the loss of several crew members at a critical time .
Be sure to sign up for the Member-Member Tournament coming up the weekend of July 15 - 17 . There will be lots of activities for the whole family to enjoy with golf , pool activities , food and live music . Sign up with Scott in the pro shop .
LGCC is once again the place to be in Lexington . Thank you to all those who work so hard to make it a better place . See you on the course .
