The Gosnell Pirates went 1-8 in a very disappointing season last year . It ’ s one that head coach Lewis Earnest hopes to bury in the past . Gosnell returns 13 seniors . The Pirates have three key players that will have to have huge seasons in order for Gosnell to turn things around . Those players include : Floyd Williams , Cam Williams and Ahmad Turner . The Pirates will run the spread offense . They will work out of the 3-4 formation on defense returning ten starters . Coach Earnest looks to compete for a conference title . While Gosnell will be improved from a season ago , they have a tall mountain to climb and will struggle to make the playoffs likely finishing in the lower half of the conference .

The Marked Tree Indians ended last season with a 5-6 record being knocked out early in the playoffs . They lose three key pieces in BJ Marshall , Aiden McGuire , Jacobee Knuav , and Corey Jacobs . Head coach Waylon Dunn returns several key parts to last season ’ s machine . His son Bryce Dunn and Cainan Hawkins return to anchor the offensive line . Braylon Kennedy and Brady Hicks will be staples on the defensive line . Returners to the linebacker ’ s slots are Timothy Risper and Jonah Walker . At running back will be LaRay Brown and Jaylen Bradley . Willie Marshall will see time at running back while being a top target at wide receiver . Cameron Marshall and Eli Crockett will serve as the Indian ’ s top defensive backs . “ We are a spread team trying to be balanced between pass and run . We have a mix of experience and youth ,” told Coach Dunn . “ We are a four front on defense . Our strength is experience at most positions but area of concern is staying healthy and playing some sophomores in key spots .” Tate Swink will punt and kick extra points , while LaRay Brown will kick off . Coach Dunn ’ s goal is for the team to stay healthy and compete for conference championship while getting a home playoff game .
