The New York City Health and Hos- pitals Police ( NYHP ) provides on-
site critical law enforcement services and se- curity services at the 18 NYC hospitals and clinics operated by the New York City Health and Hospitals Corp ( HHC ) and en- forcing state and city laws at those facilities .
The New York City Health and Hos- pitals Police , under the leadership of Chief Juan
Checo , stood on the front lines securing the perimeters of the city ’ s public hospitals , led the COVID-19 quarantine / isolation ef- fort , and responded to and assisted patients in crisis who were suffer- ing from COVID-19 , many of which are members of the city ' s most vulnerable populations , and the frontline healthcare profession- als and support members that pro- vide them care .
