GOLF & GREENS COMMITTEE
Golf at LGCC continues to be a gratifying experience , with the course in fine shape and many new golfers joining in the club activities . Once again , the staff did a tremendous job for the Member- Member tournament . We had great conditions , excellent food , and lively entertainment .
The grounds crew has had their hands full with there being a shortage of workers and the lively growing conditions . Several un-mowed areas have created some serious hazards for those of us that are not so accurate with our shots . We hope to have a ruling from the management team as to how these areas should be treated for scoring purposes , since they are not currently marked as hazard spots . This will provide uniform treatment by all players .
If you have not already been advised , please note that the club has once again returned to the USGA GHIN system , administered by the World Golf Association and the Virginia State Golf Association . All handicaps should be kept on the GHIN system . Hopefully , you have received notice of this change from the VSGA , with your GHIN number for posting scores kept in accordance with the USGA rules of golf .
The Special Events Committee has another great weekend planned for our members over Labor Day . Be sure to join in the activities by signing up in the pro shop . Also , the Ladies Handicap Championship is slated for August 13th . Again , you can sign up in the pro shop .
Congratulations to the Senior Golf Team for their winning record thus far this season . We are undefeated at home and had a close loss on the road to Ironwood . Our next match is August 4 at Orchard Creek ( formerly Waynesboro CC ). Be sure to sign up to play . New members are always welcome . It is a fun way to get to know the other golfers at LGCC .
See you on the course .
