CITY OF KNOWLEDGE When the Taliban took over Afghanistan this past summer , City of Knowledge was forced to close . Before that , they offered courses in Computers , Science , Literacy , Arts , English , and Women ’ s rights . Graduates went on to pursue university and the careers of their choice , becoming the future doctors , engineers , lawyers , scientists , artists , and technical experts of Afghanistan , and inspiring countless others to do the same . Once the school was closed , the funds already in their account went to support the teachers immediately .
AFGHAN INNOVATION FUND SOPHIA MAHFOUZ An initiative to safely evacuate , support and resettle Afghan refugees , led by British- Afghan entrepreneur Sophoe Mahfouz . The fund ’ s goals are to create awareness , to centralize information and vet information so it ’ s easier to find ways to take action and support the efforts , to promote volunteer efforts , to spearhead longer term discussion on supporting Afghan families with employment , education , healthcare and mental health support , and to help drive systemic innovation by empowering the next generation of Afghan refugees to thrive .

QUÉBEC A grant in response to a request for help , fundraising , and collection of donations to aid women and children survivors of the earthquake in Haiti . Rebecca Guillaume , the President of ASAEDHQ explains , “ Usually , the assistance that comes after a hurricane or other crises are not automatically delivered to victims in the most need . ASAEDHQ works with five women ’ s organizations to bring what the person needs directly to her . Even when the food arrives , women always have difficulty finding some .”
INSTITUTO MAKAPARY Instituto Makapary is an organization in Brazil which works to strengthen the struggle of Indigenous women in defense of their territories and building the political platform of the March of Indigenous Women . The organization defends Indigenous rights , especially the care of mother earth , the territory , the body , and the spirit , and works to support indigenous women and urgent gender topics including generating broad dialogue on how to fight violence against indigenous women .
