V-DAY RALLIED TO HELP , supporting Simeen , a mobile health team that travels to underserved provinces . The mobile health team consists of an obstetrician / gynecologist and a pediatrician , accompanied by a nurse , a registrar and a nutritionist , providing free examinations , medicine and food supplements for malnourished children . The project is dedicated to Simeen , a 24 year old girl who wished to be a health worker and was killed when volunteering to help with vaccinations in Jalalabad .
V-Day has a long history of advocacy for Afghan women and quickly mobilized to plan a wide international call for their rights in the wake of the U . S . withdrawal . Following an online day of solidarity on September 1 in which activists , individuals , and groups from over 85 countries participated , RISE FOR AND WITH THE WOMEN OF AFGHANISTAN took to the streets on Saturday , September 25 in a day of global solidarity . Activists , women ’ s and human rights groups , and high-profile individuals mounted in person actions across the globe , with some events taking place online due to local Covid restrictions .
