Despite the indispensable role of HCGC EVs in regulating goblet cell secretion and intracellular signaling at the extracellular level , their contributions to the ocular surface homeostasis have been almost neglected until today . The results presented here warrant in-depth investigation into their molecular properties , mechanism of action , and their contributions to the overall ocular surface health .
