SAFETY TIPS
SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY
All students , faculty , and staff are encouraged to promptly and accurately report all suspicious activity to the Department of Public Safety and / or other appropriate authority . Since safety is everyone ’ s responsibility , it is important for people to be aware of type of behavior and actions which may signal criminal activities . In the University setting these may include :
• A person who seems to be wandering in the hallways or lurking about the building .
• Any unusual or suspicious noise that you can ’ t explain , such as glass breaking .
• Vehicle moving slowly without lights or to no apparent destination .
• A person hanging around windows or parking lots .
• A person removing property from a building late at night .
VEHICLE SAFETY
• Have your keys in hand before you reach your parked vehicle .
• Check the area surrounding your vehicle .
• Check the interior of your vehicle before entering it .
• If you have vehicle problems in a questionable area , drive on until you reach a safe , well-lit area .
• Make a habit of keeping car doors locked .
• Park in a well lit area preferably someplace highly visible with plenty of activity .
