FIRE SAFETY REPORT / RESIDENCE HALLS CONT . False Alarm
Activating a fire alarm while knowing that there is not a fire is a crime . The guilty party can receive up to one year in jail and / or a fine of up to $ 500 . False fire alarms waste time , money and most importantly can cost human lives .
Future Fire Safety Plans
Improvements in fire safety equipment and plans is an ongoing process for Siena Heights University . The safety of the Siena community is a priority in the University master plan . At the time of this Annual Fire Safety Report there are no future plans for specific fire safety improvement .

FIRE SAFETY
Your worst enemy during a fire is smoke . If you are caught in smoke , get down on the floor and crawl to safety . Close doors behind you as you escape , and use stairs , NEVER , elevators . Simple fire safety tips to follow are :
• Make sure there is a working smoke detector near your sleeping quarters .
• Learn the location of fire exits and alarm boxes near you .
• Sound the fire alarm if you see smoke or fire .
• Do not re-enter a building until it has been declared safe for re-entry .
• Report fire safety violations to Public Safety .
• Attend RA / CLA hall meetings and orientation sessions to learn evacuation procedures , routes and fire safety guidelines specific to your building ( s ).
