Process for notifications during a threat to the health or safety of students or employees on campus :
• Siena Heights University Department of Public Safety is alerted to an emergency situation , notification could come from , but not limited to : police scanner , CSA , community member , tip line , neighbors , switchboard , hotline , email , voicemail , host campus safety or security , or Adrian campus Public Safety patrol officer observations
• Emergency response authorities will conduct an assessment of the threat . Siena Heights University Department of Public safety will verify if there is a legitimate emergency or dangerous situation that may threaten the safety of any Siena Heights University Campus
• Once verified , then the decision for which appropriate segment ( s ) of the campus community will be determined by the specifics of the situation . i . e . An immediate threat to the health or safety on the Lansing Campus the emergency notification will be issued by Siena Heights University Public Safety and / or authorized campus authorities ( see list below ) for the Lansing Campus only
• The communication protocol will determine the content of the notification . For most types of emergencies the University mass notification system has pre-scripted mass notification messages ( predetermined by the university crisis response team coordinator ), this is to ensure that the emergency notification can be issued out to the community without delay . Large events with public broadcast systems are given pre-scripted emergency plans and notifications developed for the specific event by Siena Heights University Public Safety
• The following University employees have the authority to issue University Emergency Notifications :

Chief of Public Safety Deputy Director of Public Safety Emergency Manager Communications Director Assistant Communications Director Highest ranking Public Safety Command
• Siena Heights University has a crisis response team and a CARE team ( behavior intervention team ). Different professionals are called upon for their expertise depending upon the type of emergency . Examples of offices or individuals involved in other decisions or actions include but not limited to :
