CRIME PREVENTION CONT .— DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY
The Siena Heights University Public Safety Department is committed to providing you with respectful and professional service . While we can promise you a committed effort to ensure your safety , we are of course unable to promise total isolation from crime . Therefore , it is important that each of you takes responsibility for your own safety . The key to preventing crime is awareness which is best achieved through education .
FACILITY ACCESS ( Adrian Campus )
In the interest of security , access to campus facilities is somewhat restricted . The restrictions are based on the academic year . Specific details and time can be obtained from Public Safety 517.264.7800 . Buildings , grounds , and parking lots are well lit . Trees and shrubs on the developed portion of the campus do not cause a security concern . Certain areas of campus will need pre-authorization for after-hours access .
The University takes proactive measures to ensure the security while maintaining campus facilities , including but not limited to , monthly fire safety checks ( Adrian campus ), monthly checks of emergency lighting ( Adrian campus ), monthly checks of egress lighting ( Adrian campus ). Each of the Siena Heights University campuses encourages all community members to report any unsafe facility concerns to maintenance or public safety .

Building hours vary depending upon scheduled events , typically 5 a . m . -10 p . m . if Public Safety opens the building .
Public Safety monitors and records many surveillance cameras , both inside common areas and parking lots . The residence halls are locked every night with restricted access via front doors . Maintenance , Public Safety , Emergency Response , and Custodial staff
