About the IEC

The goal of the IEC is to increase the quantity and preparedness of African-American, Hispanic, and Native American engineering graduates.

The IEC was a result of a collaboration of 13 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and their Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) programs.

Lessons learned and best practices encouraged the original 13 partners to expand the scope to address technical research and to increase their group to include other historically minority serving institutions (MSIs) with ECE and similar programs. The IEC members help shape the engineering industry priorities.

The IEC is a non-profit organization working to equip a more diverse engineering workforce.
