WHEN DID YOU FIRST MEET SIBA AND HOW DID YOU KNOW SHE WOULD BE A GREAT SHOW DOG ? My husband Paul and I are lucky enough to be able to assess each of Connie Unger ’ s litters . We have a great working relationship with her and being able to evaluate each litter really helps us in finding our next show dog . In Siba ’ s litter , she was a standout and we had high hopes for her right away . It wasn ’ t until we started showing her , though , that we realized how great her temperament was for being in the ring and in the spotlight .
ANY FUN FACTS ABOUT SIBA ? She really loves our son , Aiden . He is constantly playing with her and she loves horsing around with him .
WHAT WAS THE COMPETITION LIKE DURING BEST IN SHOW ? The Best in Show lineup at Westminster was incredible . The quality there was amazing but it was also great to be surrounded by such wonderful handlers as well . After campaigning Siba in 2019 we got to know a lot of the other handlers and the top dogs that were out being shown . They are some really great people and beautiful dogs .
WHAT WENT THROUGH YOUR MIND WHEN ROBERT SLAY POINTED TO YOU AND SIBA FOR BEST IN SHOW ? I actually find that to be a funny question now . I ’ ve had so many people comment on how calm I seemed . I think as soon as Mr . Slay pointed , my first thought was , ‘ There ’ s no way he just pointed at us .’ I was in complete shock . Thank goodness people started coming up to congratulate us or I ’ m not sure I would have believed it .
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE MOMENT FROM THE BEST IN SHOW MEDIA TOUR THE NEXT DAY ? The media tour was insane ! We had so many great moments . Some of the highlights were definitely going to the top of the Empire State Building , meeting designer Michael Kors , and I loved the photos that Time magazine took of Siba . The whole day was unbelievable . But to be completely honest , the best part of the day was getting back to the hotel , hugging my son and husband , and going to bed .
